Introduction to the aquatic
environment for parents and infants. Parents must accompany child in
water. They learn basic aquatic safety and have a positive experience
with their children.
Pike: (Beginner) Develop basic
aquatic readiness skills, pool safety and basic swimming skills through
play, interaction with other children, and the use of flotation
devices.
Eel: (Intermediate) Child is
encouraged to be independent in the water with and without flotation
devices. Child must be comfortable putting face in the water and will
experience
swimming in all depths.
Ray: Child is comfortable in
all depths of the water and will experience and practice all swimming
strokes. Must be able to swim the length of pool on front and back with
or without a flotation device.
YMCA National Progressive Swim Program is designed
to help teach each child develop to his or her fullest potential in
body, mind, and spirit. Personal safety, stroke development, water
sports & games, personal development and rescue are taught.
Polliwog:
Beginner, hesitant in water. Swims with a floation device.
Guppy:
Intermediate beginner, paddle stroke 25 yards without floation device
and be comfortable putting face in water.
Minnow:
Advanced beginner, beginning front and back crawl, swim 25
yards
without floation device on stomach and back.
Fish:
Intermediate, stroke development.
Flying Fish:
Advanced intermediate, endurance and stroke development.
Shark:
Advanced, stroke improvement, new swimming techniques, new strokes,
increased endurance.
Synchro
Cranes Synchronized Swim Team
Come and learn about synchronized swimming. The one
and only synchronized swimming team in the Hudson Valley. Coached by
Dorothy Mitchell and Kristina Riley. Coaches are former
athletes and have participated in the sport for more than 10 years
each.

The
Dutchess County YMCA Synchro-Cranes Synchronized Swim Team competed in their
first meet of the season at the East Zone Invitational meet on Saturday March
15th at UnionCollege in Schenectady,
NY.Swimmers competing were Alisa Pacheco, Sarah
Milkowski-Dahlgren, Angelica Miranda, and Laurel Hicks.The girls are coached by Tina Riley and
Dorothy Mitchell.The 13 and Over Trio
consisting of Hicks, Miranda and Milkowski-Dahlgren placed 5th.The 13 and Over Duet of Milkowski-Dahlgren
and Pacheco placed 5th. The 13 and Over Soloists Pacheco and
Milkowski Dahlgren placed 2nd and 6thUpcoming meets for the Synchro-Cranes Team
includes a Novice meet in Binghamton on April 6th, Metropolitan
Association Meet on April 26th in Hamden, CT, Region B Championships on May 17th and 18th
at home (Dutchess County YMCA) and East Zone Championships June 7th
and 8th in Westfield, NJ. respectively.
Devil
Fish Swim Team
The Dutchess County YMCA Devil Fish Swim Team is a competitive swim
open to swimmers of all ablities. The team focuses on sportsmanship,
commitment, and stroke development and is dedicated to helping every
swimmer realize his or her athletic goals. The team is a part of the
thirteen-team Empire State Swim League and beginning this year will
also participate in US Swimming meets and YMCA meets. For ages 5 - 18
years old.
*Pre-requisite: Must be able to swim 1
lap of the pool unassisted.

This class provides instruction for adults with
beginner or intermediate swimming skills. The instructor will work with
each participant to help them increase their self-confidence in the
water and improve specific skills.
A program designed for people with arthritis, back
problems, joint or muscular injuries or any mobility limitation,
working one on one in a group setting with a certified personal trainer
in the water.

A great introduction to the YMCA progressive aquatic
program and teams! Children will be able to participate in their
program of choice with an overall goal to gain confidence and a sense
of accomplishment in the water.

A great introduction to the YMCA progressive swim
lesson program for children with challenges. YMCA staff and volunteers
will provide an instructional and recreational swim program involving
water safety and progression. Children will be introduced to the water
within their swimming ability, with an overall goal to gain a sense of
accomplishment and confidence in the water. All participants MUST
complete an evaluation session before the first class.
